Ricky Gervais: I Hate Exercising in Public

12 October 2008 1:15 AM, PDT | From PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news

No swank Hollywood gyms for British comedy star Ricky Gervais. The creator of the award-winning series The Office says he and girlfriend Jane Fallon recently bought a place in New York with "a gym in the basement." "So I never have to exercise in public," Gervais, 47, tells the November issue of Britain's Psychologies Magazine."My favorite thing in the world is to come home, have a swim, put my pajamas on and open a bottle of wine," he adds. "That's it for me." Gervais, who tried his hand at being a pop star before stand-up comedy, writing and directing, also

Bill Murray Wants a Female Ghostbuster

11 October 2008 10:49 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

After years of what seemed like very inconvenient silence on the subject, Bill Murray is finally talking about Ghostbusters 3. Credit the Ghostbusters video game for a lot of that thaw. Murray provided his voice - and even that took some convincing - although the game, originally scheduled to be released at the end of the month, has been postponed.

But Murray had a great time working on the game, apparently, and recently joked that the wounds from Ghostbusters 2 were healed. Not that the threequel needed his blessing; Columbia had already begun working on a screenplay by hiring Gene Stupnisky and Lee Eisenberg from The Office.

"I don't even know who these guys are, but I know there's two guys from The Office writing a Ghostbusters script," Murray told MTV. "But it's great; I think a fresh look at it will be fine. I hope they go back to the original version.

Oscar Nuez

8 October 2008 9:05 PM, PDT | From avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news

The American version of The Office has arguably the best and deepest supporting cast of any sitcom in history. Beyond stars Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, and John Krasinski there's an entire galaxy of rich secondary players, from Eeyore-like human resources guy Paul Lieberstein to moon man Creed Bratton to gay accountant Oscar Nuñez. An alumnus of the seminal Los Angeles improv troupe the Groundlings, Nuñez scored guest spots on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Reno 911! before landing the role of the uptight accountant Oscar in 2005. Nuñez picked up a Daytime Emmy when the online spin-off The Office: The Accountants scored the first-ever Emmy for Outstanding Broadband Program. In 2007, Nuñez executive-produced and starred in Halfway Home, an improvised Comedy Central comedy about the wacky denizens of a halfway home. The A.V Club recently spoke with Nuñez about his ribald past as a game-show contestant, his infamous kiss...

Sequel and Prequels in the News

7 October 2008 6:31 PM, PDT | From Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news

There’s a lot of prequel/sequel talk in the air this week.  First, rumors have it that Jennifer Aniston is being offered tons of cash to reprise her character in a follow-up to The Break-Up, opposite Vince Vaughn.

On the other hand, Corey Haim says he’s up for a Lost Boys film; one he claims will be a prequel to the first film and not a follow-up to the direct-to-dvd sequel that was released in July. He told Bloody Disgusting, “I've seen the whole movie; I don’t like it, to be honest with you. I don’t like it, I'm not gonna lie to you. I don’t like it as much as the first one.”

No official word has come from Warner Bros. or any of the Lost Boys participants so Haim could be drumming up work for himself. Still, he clearly had his own vision

Carell for another "Get Smart." Actor lands three-year deal with Warners.

7 October 2008 9:57 AM, PDT | From Movie Jungle | See recent Movie Jungle news

Carell has landed a three-year first look deal at Warner Bros. Pictures. The comedian has started Carousel Productions which Charlie Hartsock and Vance DeGeneres will run and the offices will be within the Warner Bros. lot. This comes after the first comedy based on the TV series pulled in over $130 million in the local market and a strong $230 million in overseas numbers for Village Roadshow Pictures and Warners. The Massachusetts born actor also lended his voice alongside Jim Carrey in "Horton Hears a Who" and, of course, is enjoying a fruitful run in NBC's "The Office" series.

‘Get Smart’ to get sequel

7 October 2008 8:40 AM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Do you miss Maxwell Smart? In case you do, here’s some good news for you: Warner Bros. is working on a potential sequel to Peter Segal’s action comedy “Get Smart,” according to Variety.

Although it has not been officially announced yet, Steve Carell is expected to return as the clumsy spy, who successfully battled the forces of Kaos in this summer’s hit blockbuster.

Get Smart” pulled in $130 million domestically and $230 million worldwide, which is obviously reason enough for the studio to launch into the production of a follow-up.

This announcement was made in conjunction with a three-year first-look deal Carell sealed with Warner. The agreement allows “The Office” star to produce several projects for the studio.

"I'm also looking for films I can produce that aren't right for me as an actor,” he told Variety.

Carell is currently working on the latest season of TV’s “The Office.

Bill Murray up for 'Ghostbusters 3'

6 October 2008 1:37 PM, PDT | From Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news

Actor Bill Murray spoke at a New York news conference for City of Ember and repeated his interest in appearing in Ghostbusters 3.

The comedian also said that a script is moving forward at the moment. "There's two fellows from The Office that are writing a script, but I've yet to see it. And I'm more involved with, you know, trying to get the dessert we ordered at lunch than I am with the new Ghostbusters sequel. But it's possible. It's a great idea that they hired these two guys to do it, because I think it'll be a ... it could be a fresh look at it. And it could be funny."

If true, he would reprise his role of Dr. Peter Venkman and appear alongside Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, Jr. more than 20 years after Ghostbusters 2.

Of the latter, he admitted, "We did a sequel, and it

Bill Murray Open to the Third Ghostbusters Movie

6 October 2008 4:21 AM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

By the end of the year I'm sure all four of the original Ghostbusters will be asked about this. Ever since the news broke in early September that a third Ghostbusters movie was being written, journalists have been scrambling for any morsel of info that they can. Bill Murray was the most recent to be asked about the sequel and gave a rather interesting update to journalists this past weekend in New York City (via SciFi). In addition to mentioning that "the third one could happen," Murray told a rather discouraging story about how Ghostbusters II came about. "The second one was kind of disappointing," he explained, because the idea that was pitched originally was changed entirely by the time he got to set to start work. As was later confirmed, "The Office" writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky have been hard at work on a script. Murray himself confirms

Gervais 'will eventually quit acting'

Ricky Gervais has said he will one day give up acting for a future behind the camera. The comedian, who shot to fame in The Office and Extras, remarked that he will further his career by writing and directing rather than acting. "Being one of the leads is very nice and flattering. But I'm not pursuing it," he said. "I've never wanted to be an actor. I've never thought of myself as one. (more)

Pegg Blasts Gervais For Criticising British Films

1 October 2008 5:14 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Funnyman Simon Pegg has hit out at fellow comedian Ricky Gervais for criticising the British film industry.

Pegg slammed The Office star, who has had huge success in America with the comedy series, after he declared there had been no decent films to come out of the U.K. in almost 60 years.

Pegg says, "He (Gervais) says a lot of things, that man. He said there had been no good British films since 1950. What an idiot. If you go to Los Angeles, you can get sucked into that."

And Pegg also made a jibe about Gervais' weight, insisting people living in LA become either thin or fat.

He adds, "He's one of the fat people in Los Angeles, yes."

Murray Comments on Ghostbusters 3

29 September 2008 12:25 AM, PDT | From DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news

Bill Murray made a surprise guest appearance at Fantastic Fest in Austin last week, and during the Q&A someone had the nerve to ask about Ghostbusters 3. Since he’s not quite as vocal about the series as Ramis or Aykroyd have been, hearing his comments on it pretty much solidified the whole thing for me.

According to AICN, Bill commented that he believes the wounds from Ghostbusters 2 have healed and he’s more than ready to step into the shoes and proton pack of Dr. Peter Venkman one last time. He acknowledged that two writers from “The Office” (specifically Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky) were working on a script, which was “a good start”, and feels the first 40 minutes from the original is "some of the best stuff he's been associated with".

So what helped convince him? Voicing Venkmen in the recent Ghostbusters video game was a big help,

Bill Murray Talks Ghostbusters 3!

28 September 2008 10:17 AM, PDT | From iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news

This news is a couple of days old but worth mentioning regardless - At the screening of Gil Kenan's new film City Of Ember at Fantastic Fest, Bill Murray was the surprise guest and fielded some  questions from the audience after the movie. The subject of the recently announced Ghostbusters 3 came up and here's what Bill had to say:

"Well, I think the wounds from Ghostbusters 2 have healed. And supposedly they've got 2 guys from The Office to write a script? That could work, I think that's a good idea to get a fresh look at it. I've always liked the characters, the characters were fun. And we did have a lot of fun making the movie, the first one was really a lot of fun to make. I think the first 45 minutes of Ghostbusters is about as funny as a movie gets. We didn't have a lot of special effect in it,

John Krasinski Puts on His Jim Halpert Face

27 September 2008 | From Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news

John Krasinski flashed a big grin in his typical Jim Halpert attire on a break from shooting The Office this week. Jenna Fischer was also spotted hanging out by the trailers, which of course is making us think about all of the fun on last night's episode. Seeing this onscreen couple all dressed up for the Emmys was a treat, but having them back to flirting in the office on Thursday nights is even better. Even if it didn't make our list of 15 Fall shows to watch, Jim and Pam still get an honorable mention. More photos, including Jenna Fischer, if you just read more. Pacific Coast News Online

Bill Murray Up for 'Ghostbusters 3'

26 September 2008 2:32 PM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

And finally, Murray has spoken. At Fantastic Fest in Austin, Bill Murray addressed the question of Ghostbusters 3. We know it's moving forward, with Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnisky from The Office are writing it, and that everyone is excited about its progress, with the exception of Murray, who had remained unavailable for comment.

Ain't It Cool News has video of Murray talking about Ghostbusters 3, and he seems genuinely interested in being slimed again.

"The wounds from Ghostbusters 2 are healed," he said, perhaps half-jokingly, if at all. But he sounds like he's ready to move forward with the threequel, even though we're not sure if it's the same Ghostbusters - Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis, and Ernie Hudson - or if we'll have a younger unit of Busters with a cameo or a couple of scenes with the originals. Whatever we get, Murray sounds like he's totally, unequivocally onboard.

Oscar Bosses Deny Gervais Role

26 September 2008 8:57 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Latest: Organisers of the forthcoming 2009 Academy Awards ceremony have denied British comedian Ricky Gervais is to present the event - insisting a host has not been chosen.

Previous stars to front the show include funnyman Chris Rock, TV host Ellen DeGeneres, and comedian Jon Stewart, who compered this year's event.

And The Office creator Gervais is hotly tipped to be named as host for the next ceremony.

But Larry Mark, a co-producer of the 81st annual event, insists that they have not yet decided on a host.

He tells E! Online, "We haven't made one single phone call. There has been no reaching out."

Academy president, Sid Ganis, adds, "We haven't gotten that far yet. We're just not there yet."

Gervais Tipped to Be 2009 Oscars Host

25 September 2008 6:59 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

British comedian Ricky Gervais is hotly tipped to host next year's Academy Awards.

Gossips claim new Oscars bosses Laurence Mark and Bill Condon were impressed with The Office creator's laugh-raising stint at Sunday's Emmy Awards, and they want to audition him for the Oscars.

A source tells Ew.com, "The buzz around town is that Ricky should host the Oscars."

Previous Oscars hosts have included Whoopi Goldberg, Steve Martin, Jon Stewart and Billy Crystal.

Ricky Gervais: Oscars Host?

25 September 2008 4:07 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

What would you think about Ricky Gervais hosting the Academy Awards? Apparently, that question is making the rounds in Hollywood at the moment, thanks in large part to Gervais' funny and completely uncomfortable presenter's skit at the Emmy Awards last weekend.

In 2007, Gervais won the award for Best Actor in a Comedy, but because he wasn't in attendance, presenters Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert gave the trophy to Steve Carell, who plays Michael Scott in The Office, a show Gervais created. At the end of the skit, Gervais took back his Emmy, which Carell kept with him the entire year.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the breath of fresh air was so well-received that Academy Awards producers want him to host their marathon of jewelry, designer dresses, and platitudes next year. Of course, if all it takes is a funny two minutes at the Emmys, why the hell didn't they call Don Rickles?
